The Making of a Gingerbread House

Aunt Holly helped us make the gingerbread house this year! First we had to make our own icing (I always buy the kits on clearance the year before since we don't eat it anyway)... the icing was rock hard! Since you have to let it set once you put the walls up, it was a two day job!

First assemble the house: We used cans to hold the walls up overnight so they could dry... Asher went and got the little gingerbread man ornament off the tree so he could sleep in the house!

The next morning we put the roof on and started to decorate it! (Yes, the gingerbread man is still inside.. we'll get him out before we toss it in Jan!). All done!! (Pretty good since Asher kept sneaking pieces of the decorations.. LOL!) So cute!

Airplanes

On Saturday, Daddy took Asher to a retirement lunch for someone he worked for a few summers. There were lots of airplanes to see!

Christmas Pictures

We had our formal family pictures taken today! They turned out pretty well.. (except for the fact that I let Asher pick his jeans out and didn't double check to see that he got them out of his drawer and not off the floor :(... guess that's a lesson learned... needless to say we didn't get any closeups of him except headshots!).

Ellie did a pretty good job for being sleepy!

Thanksgiving in Olsonville

Instead of shopping on "Black Friday" we took a trip to Olsonville to see our family! Here are just a few of our fun adventures:

Making a grilled cheese with Tessa: Tessa after getting ahold of her mommy's makeup: Playing baseball outside (unfortunately Asher thought he was supposed to swing when I said three, and Tessa was standing at bat level... Riding on the tractor with Grandpa.. nice to have family that lives in the country! (Tag was having a blast too... she loves it up there!)

Daddy is the BEST at making pancakes!

He knows a way to make faces (mostly importantly, Bob and Larry faces!).

Daddy was at work one morning and Asher decided HE could make them like daddy... and he did a really good job!!

500th Blog!

Ok, so I've been procrastinating blogging because I wanted to do a really cool blog entry for the 500th blog post! But, I finally decided I better get something up and then I can tweek it later! I want to get a really cute family picture, but it nap time and so forth... so check back tonight or tomorrow and I'll update it!

So... 500 blogs! That seems crazy! I started just after Asher was born, and now we are a family of 4! Asher is getting SO big and he cracks us up all the time! One example... he and Daddy went to church wednesday night. Soon after they left I saw there was a bad accident on the highway and called to let them know to take a different route. When we hung up, Asher asked what mommy wanted. Daddy told him there was an accident on the highway and mommy told them not to go that way. Very seriously Asher says "Master Shifu say there are no accidents" quoting Kung Fu Panda... very funny! (yes, he's seen that way too many times).

I love going back through the archives and seeing how big he's changed and all the fun things we've done! I can't wait too see how Ellie changes in the next 500 blogs. Blogging is kind of like therapy for a young scrapbooking mom. I can pop entries and videos up here quickly without feeling like I have to scrapbook EVERY moment. (Saves time and money!) Swim Lessons

Asher is almost done with his very first session of swim lessons! He is doing a GREAT job! He and his "friends" are funny to watch and it is very cool to see how much they are learning each week. This week they practiced alot with floating on their backs and he did it on his own for just a bit! (I think he's got his mommy's problem that no matter how much I relax my feet always drift down). Can you see mommy beaming through the computer???

Pumpkin Playdate

On monday we had some friends come over for a "pumpkin party"... first we visited the pumpkin patch and rode on a tractor ride. We got to bounce in the inflatable, and there was a haybale maze too! After some fun there we came back to Asher's house for pumpkin shaped grilled cheese, games and cupcakes!
